Before synthetic inks, ink was made from botanical dyes. Plant colours bring the traditional process of non-toxic ink making into the 21st century.
In this 4-hour workshop, you will learn how to make ink from only plants, to make watercolour pigments like no other. We will explore many different techniques and use only organic locally foraged materials throughout the entire plant to paint process. In the 2nd part of the workshop we will use our inks to create watercolour paintings.
We will make 10-15 different inks during the class. You will take home 2 different types of plant ink and your plant paintings.
No experience necessary.
All materials provided.
