Get your hands stained and your creativity flowing as we create dye powders & watercolours from plants!
Before synthetic inks, ink was made from botanical dyes. Plant colours bring the traditional process of non-toxic ink making into the 21st century.
In this 4-hour workshop, you will learn how to make ink from only plants, to make watercolour pigments like no other. We will explore many different techniques and use locally foraged materials aswell as everyday kitchen scraps throughout the entire plant to paint process. In the 2nd part of the workshop we will use our inks to create watercolour paintings and bush pen drawings. We will experiment with ph levels and different paper to triple our colour palate.
We will make 10-15 different inks during the class. You will take home as many plant inks as you can and your plant paintings. Start saving small jars if you can otherwise we will have plenty.
No experience necessary. This workshop is so much fun and sells out fast so please don’t hesitate if you’d like a spot.
All materials provided but feel free to bring any plants/flowers to play with.
