What to bring: Refreshments and a light snack will be provided. Please bring lunch if you need and a water bottle. Any freshly picked leaves/flowers you wish to experiment with.
Please wear comfortable, warm clothes that you don’t mind getting messy.
You will discover the magic of printing materials from natureāleaves, flowers, twigs, etc onto fabric, learn different techniques and take home your printed fabric! This workshop is for everyone and all skill levels.
In this class students will learn the basics of eco printing including the importance of proper preparation, types of processing techniques. Students will also experiment with mordants, tannins, dyes and a variety of vegetation that will ultimately lead to successful printing. Although students are asked to bring a variety of leaves to class, we will also have plenty of pre-foraged plant material.
Materials included. All materials, including fabric, have been op shopped or tip shopped.
Emphasis will be placed on safety, best practice procedures, environmental factors and plant characteristics. The final project will be framing your best piece. This is a relaxed, fun-filled class so come prepared to experience the wonders of eco printing!
