Yellow oyster mushrooms have a fruity aroma reminiscent of aged red wine and are velvety, crisp, and chewy. When raw, Yellow oyster mushrooms can be somewhat bitter, but when cooked, they developed a balanced, nutty flavour similar to the flavor of cashews.
You will be making and taking home two Yellow Oyster logs per person (Pleurotus citrinopileatus) that will be ready to fruit next Autumn. The logs will be about 1m long and provide amazing mushrooms for years to come with very little maintenance (just keep them out of the sun!). Costs include workshop, materials like spawn, beeswax for sealing the holes and some drills, some drill bits and light refreshments.
The process involves drilling holes into the logs, inserting small dowels inoculated with mushroom spawn and sealing the holes with beeswax.
Everyone is invited! Even if you live in the suburbs you can grow your own mushrooms. All you need is a shaded space.
These workshops sell out fast! See booking form below to secure your place.
