FOR THOUSANDS OF years and still today in many parts of the world, brooms were fashioned at home as needed from whatever brushy stuff was on hand: reeds, sticks or grasses, lashed together, often with a stick pushed into them.
Like magic, we will transform wooden sticks and local grasses into enchanting, one-of-a-kind brooms featuring hand-carved handles. Start by learning carving skills, incorporating stains and woodburning. Then, using cordage, beeswax and creativity, we will transform our branches into brooms.
This workshop will be done around a warm fire in the pristine bush of Jackeys Marsh.
All levels welcome; some hand strength required.
