Mar 27th- Whittling Huon Pine Spoons

You’ll whittle your own Huon Pine or King Billy spoon with your feet in the river in this uniquely Tasmanian 4hr workshop!

When: Saturday, March 27th, 2021, 10am-2pm

Where: Meander/Jackeys Marsh, exact location will be disclosed closer to date.

What to bring: Refreshments and a light snack will be provided. Please bring lunch if you need, a water bottle, hat, towel and cushion/chair. 

Please wear comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting messy. 

Location will be sent to you upon booking. This will be a dirt track of fairly good condition, standard cars are fine. We’ll walk 1 min down to the river and get comfy on the rocks.

We will whittle (carve) two of the most revered timbers in the world, Huon Pine & King Billy Pine. Endemic to the wild west coast of Tasmania these timbers carve like butter and smell even better, making them the perfect beginner timbers.

You’ll learn safety precautions, correct technique, sanding grades and you’ll take home a finished spoon.

PLEASE NOTE: Without giving too much away, this workshop will be set in a remote area, there will be no phone service, toilets, chairs etc.

Knives and tools are available for purchase.
