Whether you are an experimental craftsperson, a beginning dyer or a gardener interested in new uses for traditional plants this workshop is for you.

You will learn how to dye fibres using all-natural materials, how to extract colours from plants, kitchen waste and herbs, what mordants are and how to use them, fabric properties and more. There will be a focus on self-foraged bush plants and their dyes eg. Bracken, Man fern, Myrtle, Banksia, Eucalyptus.

You will discover the magic of printing materials from nature—leaves, flowers, twigs, etc onto fabric, learn different techniques and take home your printed fabric!

You will learn the basics of eco printing including the importance of proper preparation, types of processing techniques. Students will also experiment with mordants, tannins, dyes and a variety of vegetation that will ultimately lead to successful printing. We will have plenty of pre-foraged plant material. We will also experiment with flower dyes and prints.

All materials, including fabric, pots, spoons, bamboo rods etc. have been op shopped or tip shopped.

Emphasis will be placed on safety, best practice procedures, environmental factors and plant characteristics. The final project will be framing your best piece. This is a relaxed, fun-filled class so come prepared to experience the wonders of eco printing!

This workshop is for everyone and all skill levels.  Materials provided.
