Oh, the colours we will make! We will explore different plants and their wonderful dyes. We will dye fabrics until our hearts are content.

When: Saturday sept 5th, 10am-2pm

What to bring:

  • Refreshments and a light snack will be provided. Please bring lunch if you need and a water bottle.
  • Foraged berries/plant materials you’d like to experiment with.

Please wear comfortable, warm clothes that you don’t mind getting messy.

Whether you are an experimental craftsperson, a beginning dyer or a gardener interested in new uses for traditional plants this workshop is for you.

You will learn how to dye fibres using all-natural materials, how to extract colours from plants, kitchen waste and herbs, what mordants are and how to use them, fabric properties and more. There will be a focus on self-foraged bush plants and their dyes eg. Bracken, Man fern, Myrtle, Banksia, Eucalyptus.

This workshop is for everyone and all skill levels.  Materials provided.

Emphasis will be placed on safety, best practice procedures, environmental factors and plant characteristics.  This is a relaxed, fun-filled class so come prepared to experience the charm of plant dyes!
